Dulce Vasquez serves as the Assistant Vice President of Strategic Advancement in the Office of University Affairs at Arizona State University (ASU), where she drives the development of strategic university-wide partnerships, manages special projects, and expands ASU’s presence in Los Angeles. Her work is guided by ASU’s charter to foster inclusion and take responsibility for the economic, social, cultural, and overall health of the communities it serves.
Prior to her current role, Vasquez was the Managing Director of Zócalo Public Square, an ASU affiliate, where she led programming, finances, strategic partnerships, development, and human resources for eight years. Born in Tampico, Mexico, and having lived across the United States, she has made Los Angeles her home for the past 16 years, dedicating herself to community engagement and civic leadership.
Vasquez’s commitment to public service extends to politics. She ran for Los Angeles City Council in 2022 and California State Assembly in 2024, championing housing, public transportation, small business support, education, and the rights of LGBT+ and women.
An accomplished scholar, she earned a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Northwestern University, studied at Sciences Po (Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris), and holds a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) from UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
Based in the ASU California Center on Broadway, Vasquez is also an active member of her South Los Angeles community. Outside of work, she enjoys running, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with her spouse and two dogs.
